Verminophobia

The verminophobia is a phobia that belongs to the second kinds of phobias. That kind concerns phobias that are resulted with a fear for organisms. Verminophobia is a fear for germs that may results in certain disease, and germs are also organisms, so verminophobia belongs to this kind. There is a phobia that is characterized with fear for catching some kind of a disease, so one may wonder what the difference is between that phobia and verminophobia. The difference between those to fears is that the fear for disease concerns any forms of disease and way of infection with those diseases.

The verminophobia is peculiar for such feature that person, who suffers with verminophobia, is not afraid of disease as it is, but of the germs that may cause the disease. Such phobia is represented as fear for holding the handrails in mass transport, for touching the door handle of some public building, in two words a person, who suffers with verminophobia, is afraid of touching anything the other people touched before.

Those people are possessed with thought that hands of those, who surround them, are extremely dirty and may contain germs of some terrible diseases, and that as they touch anything the germs of those diseases are left on the object and that once he or she touches the object he or she will have those germs on the hands. It is rather destructive phobia as it makes impossible the normal living and moving of a person, who suffers with this phobia. They are afraid to open the doors of banks, shops and other organizations.

But for this fear, those people may stay hours long in front of the door and afraid to open it, as they believe that they are even able to see the germs that are stored on the handle of the door. Usually, those people always have some kinds of napkins or shawl with them, in order to use it if they need to open the door or hold the handrails. Just imagine the situation if such suffered with phobia will leave the napkins or the shawls at home, he or she will get panic at once as faced with necessity to touch something the other people have touched. He will never enter the necessary building and even water closet.

Such fear will causes the troubles in communication, as man who suffers with verminophobia just can't perform the simple handshake as on the hands of the opponent he sees a great number of harmful germs. Those people are usually wear gloves in order to prevent the contact with germs and get sick with some kind of disease.

As a rule such fear starts in the very childhood with the help of loving moms, who draw vivid pictures about the variety of germs that present on everything. They tell their children frightening stories about monster-germs that are waiting for poor baby on every step and every object he wants to touch. Those moms are worry about the pureness of baby's hands, but they have no idea about the harm they cause for psychic of their child, the harm that is twice as dangerous as all the germs together.
